Congratulations to Gil Rustin, manager, Contracts Administration, on receiving the 2025 HII Compass Award for Compliance at Ingalls Shipbuilding.Â
One of HII’s highest individual honors, the Compass Award recognizes people who strengthen our culture of compliance by leading with accountability and purpose, not only shaping our present, but securing our future.Â
Compliance may not always be visible, but it’s everywhere: in how we document decisions, manage data, honor contracts and safeguard sensitive information. In a defense industry shaped by complex regulations and ever-evolving challenges, staying compliant isn’t just strategic — it’s essential.
The Compass Award is presented annually to individuals at each of HII’s three divisions and the Corporate office. In addition to Gil, this year’s honorees include:
- Corporate Office: Susie Bacon & Shay Brown, Executive IT Support Team
- Mission Technologies: Megan Weaver, Administrative Generalist
- Newport News Shipbuilding: Michael Reilley, Chief Engineer
Thanks to the leadership of Gil and others like him, our work remains grounded in integrity and reflects the best of who we are as shipbuilders.Â
Congratulations, Gil — and thank you for setting the standard!
