Ship Milestone | LPD 30 achieves electronic systems light-off

The big picture: Harrisburg (LPD 30) has achieved electronic systems light-off (ESLO), moving the ship closer to full operational capability. This milestone sets the stage for fuel on-load (FULO) and combat systems light-off (CSLO).

What’s happening:

  • ESLO ensures the readiness of key electronic systems, including engineering control signals, advancing remote operation capabilities.
  • The milestone highlights the teamwork of craft teams, engineers, technical experts, quality assurance reps, and local Government Test teams.

What they’re saying:

  • Robert Cole III, general superintendent, Electrical:
“Reaching ESLO is a key step toward ensuring Harrisburg is mission-ready for the challenges ahead.”
  • Cecil Collins, LPD waterfront production manager:
“This success reinforces our commitment to operational excellence.”

Why it matters:

  • Harrisburg, a San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock, embodies the strength of Pennsylvania’s capital city. This marks the first ESLO for LPD Flight II.
