As we enter Black History Month, it’s important to note how Black history and the legacy of Ingalls Shipbuilding blend together. It takes shipbuilders from all backgrounds coming together to help build world-class vessels to assist those who protect and defend this nation.
Throughout the entire month, we will feature African American shipbuilders within our company who represent leadership, dedication and progression in our community.
Also, there will be weekly Black history trivia contests to participate in. This is an opportunity to learn, be empowered and highlight engagement.
Black History Month, which runs through the month of February, is a time to celebrate the many accomplishments of African Americans and recognize their central role in U.S. history.
Ingalls recognizes and appreciates the contributions of African Americans to the company year-round, and will continue to be proud of the impact of African American culture and history to our country.
For ways you can support our African American shipbuilding community, consider joining the African American Shipbuilders Association (AASA).
AASA fosters professional and career development of African American shipbuilders through its strong commitment to community service and to programs that improve education, promoting cultural awareness and diversity within communities.
