This Fourth of July, we celebrate the independence of the United States and the people who have defended it since the birth of our nation. As we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, it is worth remembering that freedom has never been free. It has always depended on Americans willing to serve, build and sacrifice for something larger than themselves.Â
At Ingalls, that commitment shows up in the work you do each day and in the ships you deliver. For nearly 90 years, Ingalls shipbuilders have strengthened the fleet and supported the warfighter. The ships we deliver carry your sons and daughters, your friends and neighbors into uncertain waters and bring them back home safely. That responsibility is real and it is shared by every person in this yard.Â

We are part of a long line of American shipbuilders who helped shape the U.S. fleet into what it is today. But that history is not behind us. It is still being written on the waterfront, in the shops and on the ships under construction right now.Â
Thank you for the pride and purpose you bring to this work. Have a safe and meaningful Independence Day.Â
