Ships in Action | Exercise Rim of the Pacific 2026

Ships built at Ingalls continue to prove their might across the globe, strengthening the partnerships that help keep the world’s oceans secure.

The Ingalls-built USS Chosin (CG 65), pictured above, was one of many ships built by HII that participated in Exercise Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2026, the world’s largest international maritime exercise.

The 30th iteration of the biennial exercise ran June 24 through July 31 and brought together 30 nations, 30,000+ personnel, 30 surface ships, five submarines and more than 197 aircraft under the theme, Partners: Integrated and Prepared.

Alongside Chosin, participating Ingalls-built ships included USS Essex (LHD 2)—both maintained by the Ingalls Planning Yard—and USCGC Stratton (WMSL-756). They were joined by several ships and subs built by HII at Newport News and Avondale.

Over the course of the five weeks, forces conducted anti-submarine warfare, integrated air and missile defense, maritime strike operations, amphibious assaults, logistics and medical support missions, culminating in a realistic free-play scenario that tested their ability to operate together in a dynamic environment.

RIMPAC 2026 demonstrated that maritime security is strengthened through trust, cooperation, and shared values. By training together in a realistic operational environment, participating nations improved their ability to operate as a combined and joint force.

Together, HII ships demonstrate the enduring capability to support the U.S. and its allies. Even decades after leaving the shipyard, our Ingalls-built ships continue to deliver.
