Chris Kastner Tours Breaux Brothers Enterprises

HII President and CEO Chris Kastner, along with Duane Fotheringham, president of the Unmanned Systems group in HII’s Mission Technologies division, recently toured Breaux Brothers Enterprises in Louisiana, where five ROMULUS 151 unmanned surface vessels (USVs) are currently under construction.

HII continues to accelerate the delivery of autonomous surface capabilities to the U.S. Navy and allied partners. Earlier this week, HII announced that Bayou Metal Supply & Manufacturing, a strategic partner in the serial production of HII’s ROMULUS unmanned surface vessels, has launched a dedicated manufacturing line at its facility in Slidell, Louisiana, to support accelerated production of the platform.

ROMULUS is a modular family of unmanned surface vessels powered by HII’s Odyssey Autonomous Control Solutions, a proven autonomy software suite that serves as a key differentiator across HII’s unmanned platforms. Designed to meet current and emerging requirements for the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, joint forces, and allied partners, ROMULUS supports a broad range of missions, including intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR); mine countermeasures; strike operations; counter-unmanned systems; and the launch and recovery of unmanned underwater and aerial vehicles.

Engineered for serial, repeatable production, ROMULUS vessels combine endurance, global reach, and modular adaptability. The family is designed to scale across multiple vessel sizes while maintaining a common manufacturing approach and autonomy baseline, enabling rapid production and operational flexibility across a wide range of mission sets.
