“A Great Place to Work!”

New Enlighten Office Promises to Inspire the Next Generation of Cybersecurity Solutions

Enlighten, HII’s cutting-edge subsidiary, will reveal its new state-of-the-art office on July 31 in Columbia, Maryland.

The event will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony officiated by Andy Green, executive vice president of HII and president of HII’s Mission Technologies division as well as walking tours and a demonstration of Enlighten’s IONIC data analysis solution.

“The opening of the Columbia office marks a significant milestone for Enlighten,” said Steve Wagner, vice president of operations for Enlighten. “Our team is excited to leverage this new location to drive innovation, support our clients and achieve new levels of success.”

Enlighten’s innovative approach to modern technology symbolizes an important piece of growth that Mission Technologies is cultivating within the enterprise. More than just a workplace, Enlighten’s office space is specifically designed to support and inspire the team. The space includes a Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNet) lab, as well as a golf simulator, a putting green, a gaming area with multiple TVs and Nintendo Switches, a service pantry, and a flexible tech workshop. Outdoors, employees can enjoy trails, a park and an ice-skating rink. Employees also enjoy team-building activities such as murder mystery nights, barbecue cook-offs and concerts in the HII suite at Merriweather Post Pavilion.

“The warm and inviting environment, complete with a range of amenities, makes coming to work an absolute joy,” said Morgan Nast, an operations specialist on the team. “I can say I am very grateful for the office they have created for us. It is a great place to work, especially five days a week in the office. It makes me feel at ease and at home!”

Enlighten’s commitment to fostering a strong technological environment has attracted some of the most competitive talent in the industry. “Everyone gets to solve problems here,” said Jaime Gerbasi, a recruitment manager who has seen the company grow from 60 to 220 employees over the past eight years. “Because it’s big data, it’s always changing.”

Enlighten’s unique culture brings a fresh energy to the HII brand. The collaborative atmosphere is producing world-class results, but not due to a laborious work culture. An example of how ideas are prioritized is Enlighten’s annual hackathon, encouraging all employees to submit and develop solutions to real-world problems in a safe, productive and creative environment. This new facility underscores Enlighten’s key capability of leveraging big data to help customers maximize the potential of their endeavors.

“There’s nothing more fulfilling than discovering and bringing onboard the most skilled and talented individuals,” Gerbasi said. “Being a part of a mission that involves creating innovative tools and providing big data solutions to our customers is truly the highlight of my 20-year career.”
