The HII Mission Technologies All-Domain Operations Aviation Subportfolio is celebrating a major win with two fast-moving System of Systems Security Consortium Other Transaction Agreement (SOSSEC OTA) awards under the U.S. Air Force’s Supply Chain Consortium Initiative. Each award provides $100,000 for Phase I and supports critical reverse engineering work on the B‑2 Aircraft Cooling Turbine and the B‑52 Vaneaxial Fan Rotor. Both efforts advanced from white paper to award in only a few weeks, highlighting the responsiveness and agility of the SOSSEC OTA process and positioning the team for future phases.
Each project follows a structured two-phase process. Phase I completes teardown and inspection, material characterization, and creation of 3D models with unlimited government rights within 90 days. Phase II delivers prototype manufacturing, validation, and qualification of alternative sources to mitigate obsolescence and supply disruptions.
The awards reflect a strong collaborative effort across the Aviation team. Jim French Sub Portfolio Leader and Jodie Young Project Development Manager presented both concepts at the Tinker and Primes conference in Oklahoma City, and Caleb Grimm Mechanical Engineer served as the technical writer for the proposals.
“I am super proud of the team for putting together the white papers, and especially proud of Jim French and Jodie Young for pitching the concept at the Tinker and Primes conference this week in Oklahoma City,” said Diana Meador, portfolio director for All-Domain Operations.
Meador also noted that Grimm’s contributions were instrumental to the team’s success and strengthened HII Mission Technologies’ role as a nontraditional sustainment innovator. She emphasized that achievements like these help create a scalable path from smaller wins to larger enterprise sustainment programs and reinforce the team’s ability to deliver timely and impactful solutions for the Air Force.
