Dave Long Promotes HII at Virginia Nuclear Energy Consortium event
Dave Long, a vice president of operations at Mission Technologies, touted the company’s 70-year history of nuclear expertise in a panel discussion on March 27, noting the similarities between military and commercial nuclear projects and the potential for leveraging existing supply chains and expertise.
“Mission Technologies, by definition, is our engine to grow the company,” said Long, who leads new nuclear growth for HII. “We are focused on strengthening our national security with all-domain systems and support. We run DOE sites. One of our top priorities is commercial—leading new nuclear and leveraging that expertise.”
Long was one of three panelists featured in the lunchtime discussion at “Nuclear Energy 101: A Workshop for Policymakers and Stakeholders,” an event hosted by the Virginia Nuclear Energy Consortium and the Nuclear Innovation Alliance.
The other panelists were Todd Flowers, director of business development at Dominion Energy, and Jeff Whitt, executive director at the Virginia Innovative Nuclear Hub. The discussion was moderated by April Wade, executive director of the VNEC.
Long will also be featured in a panel at the Atlantic Council’s “Atoms for Appalachia” event on April 15 in Lynchburg.
