Garry Schwartz, Mission Technologies’ chief operating officer, was recently featured on WashingtonExec’s “Rookies to Rockstars” podcast.

“What I’ve learned is that being visible isn’t about chasing the spotlight,” he said. “It’s about making sure the great work of your team doesn’t go unnoticed. In the military, we’re taught to put the mission and our people first, and that ethos stays with me. But in industry, if you remain a wallflower, opportunities can pass you by. So I tell rising professionals: Be known. Be known in a favorable way, and don’t be afraid to go beyond what’s expected. That extra effort, even if it wasn’t asked for, is often what makes the difference for the warfighter and for your career.”
