Story Highlights HII’s Efforts to Hire Veterans and Their Spouses
Michelle Whitaker, a new hire in Mission Technologies’ Nuclear and Environmental Services business group, was featured in a WTKR report on veteran hiring.
Whitaker, a veteran spouse who recently moved to Virginia, said, “The moment I picked up the phone and I called the Hampton Roads Veterans Employment Center, that is the moment that everything turned around for me.”
She recently onboarded as a project management analyst in Nuclear and Environmental Services’ Maritime Operations Group, aka the “Shipyard 100.”
The story also highlighted Matt Jordan, the talent acquisition representative who recruited Whitaker.
“They are mission focused and goal oriented,” Jordan said. “They’re team players. That’s exactly why our company needs veterans.”
