Ingalls Shipbuilding Welcomes 2026 Summer Interns

Ingalls Shipbuilding welcomed its 2026 summer interns with a social on June 2. Interns from across the shipyard had the chance to meet one another, learn about the company and hear what to expect during their summer experience.

Susan Jacobs, Vice President, Human Resources & Administration, spoke about the importance of developing future talent at Ingalls and our backlog of work. Interns were also introduced to Lights of Hope, an intern-led service project honoring those affected by cancer and the shipbuilders who love them.

To wrap up the event, interns took part in a hands-on “shipbuilding” competition that combined creativity with basic engineering concepts.

“It was exciting to see enthusiasm among my peers at the Intern Welcome Event,” said Summer Childress, Business Management intern. “I’m so thankful that all of us are able to unite under Ingalls’ and HII’s mission of providing the U.S. military with excellent ships and technology.”

We look forward to seeing what the 2026 intern class will accomplish this summer. Learn more about this year’s service project and how to participate here: Lights of Hope Intern Service Project
