Mission Technologies Helps Drive HII’s 1Q Earnings

Mission Technologies accounted for $735 million in first quarter revenue—about 27% of HII’s $2.7 billion.

HII reported the quarterly financial results on May 1, attributing increases in segment operating income ($171 million) and segment operating margin (6.3%) to “stronger results at Mission Technologies and Newport News Shipbuilding.”

“We are encouraged by the pace of our operational initiatives in 2025,” HII President and CEO Chris Kastner said in a news release. “We expect throughput to ramp as we move through the year and, coupled with our cost savings initiatives, we expect steady improvement in support of our operational and financial goals.”

Mission Technologies President Andy Green reviewed the financial results and gave updates on the division’s six strategic priorities—People and Culture, Growth, Technical Capabilities, Service Delivery, Brand Awareness and Shareholder Value—in a leadership townhall on May 14.

“We continue to reinvent ourselves,” he said. “We just have to stay on top of it and keep driving and adjust to the market conditions. We’ve got a ton of momentum. If we keep it up, we’ll exceed that 2030 vision—no doubt.”
