“Her Positive Attitude And Expertise Have Made Such A Difference”

Mission Technologies employee praised by Air Force customers

Camila “Mila” Ortiz, a site security manager for HII Mission Technologies at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia in Hampton, Virginia, has been singled out by her U.S. Air Force mission partners for exceptional performance and leadership during the construction and security accreditation of a new facility for the 363rd Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Wing.

Ortiz oversees security for the construction of a $103 million, 92,000-square-foot building that will serve as the premier U.S. Air Force targeting facility.

Capt. Morgan W. Huang recently shared the following feedback from the 363 ISR Wing’s director of engineering and logistics:

“Camila has truly been a pleasure to work with throughout this entire facility build. … What really stands out is how approachable and helpful she is with our team. Whether someone has a question about security protocols or just needs general guidance, Camila is always there with a smile and the right answer. Her positive attitude and expertise have made such a difference during this build phase, and we honestly can’t imagine having done this without her. We just wanted to make sure you knew what an incredible employee you have in Camila—she’s been absolutely wonderful to work with and is a real credit to HII.”

Ortiz, an Air Force veteran who joined HII in 2023, said it is “extremely satisfying” to be recognized.

“I always put my best foot forward in whatever needs to be accomplished,” she said. “Most of all, this recognition is a reflection of the invaluable guidance and mentorship I have received from my leadership team in Mission Technologies. I love that I am able to meet people from many different walks of life with varying knowledge and skillsets, bring those people together to accomplish the mission, and make a positive impact on those around me. Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of HII. This has been an amazing experience and I cannot wait to see what comes next.”

The 363 ISR Wing is the only wing of its kind across the Air Force. The wing conducts lethal, resilient and ready operations across four key mission areas: analysis of air, space and cyber operations; full-spectrum targeting; special operations ISR; and ISR testing, tactics development and advanced training.
