The African American Shipbuilders Association (AASA) is helping students get ready to return to school with the employee resource group’s annual Paper With a Purpose supply drive. AASA, in partnership with local businesses and civic groups, recently distributed 550 packs of notebook paper to students in Moss Point School District.
Thanks to AASA and shipbuilders’ donations, the supply drive will help meet the needs of over 400 households in Moss Point.
AASA President Jakayla W. Miles knows community service isn’t just about giving back; it’s about building bridges and creating a brighter future together.
“Even the smallest acts of kindness hold more value than the grandest intention,” said Jakayla. “It was an honor to be a part of that bridge for the community and we look forward to serving them again in the future.”
With a strong commitment to community service and programs that improve education, AASA fosters professional and career development for all shipbuilders by promoting cultural awareness and diversity within the shipbuilding community and beyond.
