Ingalls Cares | On-Site CPR Demonstrations for Shipbuilders

Ingalls Shipbuilding and American Heart Association teamed up for a CPR demonstration for 122 shipbuilders. Using mannequins, shipbuilders were taught how to perform CPR in the event of an emergency.

The effort was initiated by a group of shipbuilders in Production Control who requested immediate response training for medical emergencies and focused on the short-term emergency aid needed before an ambulance arrives.

“Knowing how to do CPR can be potentially greater than anyone may realize,” said Thomas Currie, manager, Production & Planning Scheduling. “It can help save someone’s life, whether it be at the shipyard or at home. Having this knowledge can mean the difference between life or death.”

Ingalls partners with the American Heart Association throughout the year, including for events like the Heart Walk.

“We invest in community partners like American Heart Association on behalf of our shipbuilders,” said Premo Sabbatini, Vice President, Planning and Development. “Every Heart Walk our shipbuilders participate in, every t-shirt they buy, it all goes back to ensuring that the support services they need are available to them. Ingalls Shipbuilding’s relationship with the American Heart Association benefits our shipbuilders every day.”
