NEWPORT NEWS, Va., (Oct. 24, 2024) — Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS), a Fluor and HII (NYSE: HII) partnership company, recently provided a $20,000 sponsorship to Aiken County Public School District’s Center for Innovative Learning (CIL) in Pinecrest, South Carolina.
“We are proud of Savannah River Nuclear Solutions and their dedication to enrich the communities in which we operate,” said Michael Lempke, president of the Global Security group at HII’s Mission Technologies division. “SRNS’s ongoing support of the regional community is a testament to its commitment to investing in the future. By supporting programs like this, we are enhancing educational outcomes and empowering the next generation of leaders in science, technology, engineering and math.”
This contribution will fund the purchase of 30 laptops and a charging station to support the CIL mathematics department, enhancing educational opportunities for students with learning disabilities and those requiring additional support outside the traditional classroom setting.
The new equipment will provide access to an array of engaging online resources. These tools are essential for creating interactive and individualized learning experiences that cater to students’ unique needs. Previously, CIL’s eight middle and high school educators had to share a limited number of laptops, impacting their ability to fully assess students’ mastery of specific math standards.
SRNS is responsible for the management and operations of the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site, located near Aiken, South Carolina.
