Lolita Rankin
Shipping Rack Coordinator
Three years at NNS
“I came here from corrections – I did 13 years at a prison and two at a jail, so I was ready for a career change. This is a much different speed, and I love what I do. Shipbuilders have been the best group of people to work around in my experience, and I feel like I shine here. In my role, I’m the last line of defense for these packets and parts that are leaving the shop and going to the boat. This rack is loaded when I get in, and I have to clear it by the end of the day. It’s me against me – that’s my mindset – and I’m proud of what I’ve done when it’s time to go home. Tired, but proud.”
The series features shipbuilders’ photos and their brief statements. If you or another shipbuilder you know is interested in being highlighted, email communications@hii-nns.com.
