Fleet Sustainment Honors 26 Employees at End-Of-Year Awards Ceremony

Mission Technologies’ Fleet Sustainment portfolio—now a part of Mission Technologies’ Global Security group—recognized more than 25 employees at an End-of-Year Awards Ceremony on Dec. 4.

Employees in Virginia, California and Washington took part in concurrent in-person events that were linked virtually.

Tim McCue, leader of the Fleet Sustainment portfolio, kicked off the ceremony from San Diego, saying: “We’ve seen a lot of change in the last few months. As Mission Technologies has reorganized … it’s critical to retain the culture of Fleet Sustainment that’s been developed over the last 40 years, while putting in place those critical components that will allow us to continue to grow the next 40 years. One of those cultural elements this award ceremony. I appreciate you all being here to celebrate your peers and the folks that you work with.”

The ceremony also included recognition of Fleet Sustainment’s nominees for the Virginia Ship Repair Association’s Tradesperson on the Year awards. Robert Lee was the senior-level nominee, and Jonah Phoenix was the junior-level nominee.

The ceremony ended with recognition of Fleet Sustainment’s 2024 Impact Award winners. Debbie Anderson, Charlene Bradford, Denise Cuevas, Mark Flyge, Melissa Harmon, Natasha LaFon, Steven Wacker, Kristina White and Jim Yohe were originally honored in October for their work on the Integrated Training Systems Installation and Sustainment (ITSIS) contract.

Ryan Norris, now operations leader for Global Security, attended in Virginia Beach and offered opening and closing remarks.

“Behind each employee that we honor today is a teammate who took the time to write up the award, took the time to put some deep thought into all the things that they have accomplished throughout the year,” he said. “I’d also like to note that each awardee was supported every day by a team at HII, a team of coworkers, a team of peers, a team of supervisors, subordinates and yes, best friends at work. So to those that received an award today, I just wanted to say congrats and well done. Be proud of what you have accomplished. But at the same time, I’d like you to stop and take a moment and think about those who supported you along the way.”
