Starting July 1, Mission Technologies is enhancing its vision benefits, giving participants the choice to add coverage for safety glasses under all VSP vision plan options. This enhancement is a direct result of employee feedback and collaborative action planning.
From Action Planning to Company-Wide Benefit
A team in Mission Technologies identified the need for prescription safety glasses during an engagement action planning meeting. Unlike shipyard workers, Mission Technologies employees working with machinery and caustic chemicals had to file expense reports for reimbursement.
Recognizing the gap, Program Manager Anthony Navarrette advocated for expanded coverage. With support from Kyle Hopf, director of environmental, health and safety, and the HII Corporate Benefits team, the plan was approved.
What This Means for Employees
Starting July 1, employees will have access to add coverage for safety glasses under all VSP vision plans. This plan eliminates the need for expense reporting and provides streamlined coverage for those requiring prescription safety eyewear.
“This is a perfect example of how engagement and action planning can create positive change at individual, team and company levels,” said Miranda Williams, organizational development manager. “When employees see their suggestions implemented, it reinforces that their opinions truly count.”
