Keith Hannan
Nuclear Security Officer
10 years at NNS
“I was a body bearer at Marine Barracks, Washington, D.C., from 1992-1996. I did 506 burials, primarily at Arlington National Cemetery – rain, sleet, snow or shine – to include Mrs. Nixon in ’93 and President Nixon in ’94. When I got out of the Marine Corps, I married a sailor and followed her across duty stations. She got stationed on the USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78), which brought me to NNS. I grew up outside of Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay in Georgia, and loved watching the subs. I thought NNS would be similar, but I didn’t realize they were built here. I still feel like a kid in the candy store.”
