Andy Green reviews 2Q performance in Leadership Town Hall
Mission Technologies President Andy Green told division leaders on Aug. 12 that “lots of singles and doubles” in April, May and June added up to “a great quarter.”
“We were up almost 19% year over year,” he said during his quarterly Leadership Town Hall. “We also beat Wall Street estimates. … The HII Board of Directors is really happy with where Mission Technologies is. We’ve beaten guidance seven quarters in a row now.”
Green also highlighted human capital successes, including “a huge internship program,” an increase in veteran hiring, and a decline in voluntary attrition. He credited a “combination of everybody working together” on cultural changes like the Impact Awards, employee resource groups and MyCareerCompass.
“We’ve invested heavily and put a lot of effort into the career development platform,” he said. “There are a lot of things going on in HR that are designed to make sure people understand they have plenty of opportunities here. … There are 45,000 jobs at HII. You’ve just got to make sure people know about it and encourage them to develop professionally.”
Lastly, Green shared the results of HII’s Ethics Survey, noting that the division rated higher than the HII enterprise across all questions, including “My organization has an ethical culture” (89% vs. 74%) and “I can question the decisions of management without fear of retaliation” (79% vs. 63%).
