This year’s Newport News Shipbuilding Holiday Food Drive will have a lasting impact on neighbors in need. Shipbuilders rose to the challenge, collecting more than 19,500 pounds of food and $14,000 in monetary donations for the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank. Together, that translates into an incredible 58,795 meals for families across the community.
The dedication of individuals, teams, departments, buildings and Employee Resource Groups was visible throughout the two-week campaign. Supply Chain started the campaign off strong by collecting 4,479 pounds of food in the first week. Closing the campaign was Bldg. 600. Led by William McLaughlin, shipbuilders at that location contributed over 5,800 pounds of food and $1,930 in donations.
