“I was a merchant seaman for 15 years with the Department of Defense, as a boatswain’s mate dealing with logistics for the U.S. Navy. We would supply the convoys with the supplies they needed. I tried to do other land jobs, but I wanted to have that connection to the sea and still make it home to my kids every day. My current role is critical to the safety of the ship. Once ship’s force takes control, we are there to make sure the testing is complete before they start getting hands-on.”
