The Newport News Shipbuilding Mobile Experience (MX) Team recently participated in the Virginia Manufacturers Association’s “Makers on the Square Day” at the General Assembly Building in Richmond.
The event provided a platform to highlight the shipyard’s cutting-edge digital and augmented reality training tools, which are essential in developing and recruiting skilled men and women who bring nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and submarines to life.
The MX Team engaged with delegates, senators and members of the Governor’s Office staff, showcasing innovative training technologies that support the NNS workforce and help sustain Virginia’s vital role in national defense manufacturing. Lawmakers and their staff explored interactive demonstrations and learned how NNS is shaping the future of advanced manufacturing in Virginia.
“Our participation at ‘Makers on the Square Day’ underscores the critical role we play in developing a highly skilled workforce,” said Jamica “JJ” Jones, a process improvement analyst and MX Team member. Jones was joined at the event by her fellow team members: Molly Kranc, Eric Craighead and David Sebera.
“It was a privilege to share our story and connect with policymakers who influence the future of manufacturing and workforce development in Virginia.”
