Members of Newport News Shipbuilding’s Women in Manufacturing (WiM) and Women in Manufacturing Community of Practice (CoP) attended the WiM Virginia Spring Summit in Richmond on May 9. “Building Bridges TogetHER” was more than the summit’s theme. It represented what Aysis Belair (X41), Jasmine Bracey (X82) and Tanika Vasquez (X23) did by participating in the WiM mentoring program.
The three shipbuilders were presented with a plaque to commemorate graduating from the yearlong mentoring program.
Closing out the event was a presentation from Dr. Keisha Anderson (O12) on “Bringing Your Boldest Self to Your Biggest Challenges.” She discussed the importance of owning your energy versus owning the room, and how building confidence will help successfully navigate life’s most difficult situations.
“It was heartwarming to see women supporting one another,” said Vasquez. “Building bridges requires courage and dedication.”
