Get your family ready for the new school year with HII benefits designed to support learning, health, and wellbeing. From savings on school supplies to sports physicals, vision exams, and mental health resources for teens — explore the tools that can help your student start strong and stay supported all year long.

Getting your students ready for a new school year can add up quickly — especially if you’re preparing a first-time college student to leave home for the first time. Whether you need a laptop, printer, tablet, or even dorm essentials, Purchasing Power can help make those costs more manageable.

As an HII financial benefit, Purchasing Power lets you shop for the items you need through an employee purchasing program and spread the cost over time with simple, predictable payments taken directly from your paycheck. There are no credit checks, no hidden fees, and zero interest — just an easier way to get backtoschool ready.

Kick off the new school year with a clean bill of health. Schedule convenient sports and back-to-school physicals for your child at the HII Family Health Centers.

If your child needs new glasses or a vision checkup, make an appointment at an HII Family Vision Center. Located inside the HII Family Health Centers, you’ll find full-service eye care and retail for the whole family.

Sleepio is an online sleep improvement benefit proven to help you clear your mind, improve your sleep and have better days in just six weeks. Whether you need a few basic tips or require more detailed guidance on how to improve your sleep, Sleepio can help you fall asleep faster. You’ll spend less time awake at night, which means you’ll function better the next day.

The world can be overwhelming, and today’s teenagers are increasingly experiencing more social and emotional pressure. This has led to increased reports of depression, anxiety and behavioral issues. If you’re worried about your teen, you can access your Teladoc Health Adolescent Mental Health service at any time.

Prostate Cancer Awareness Month: What Every Man Should Know About Prostate Cancer Screenings

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in men — and one of the most treatable when it’s found early.

Prostate cancer happens when cells in the prostate — a small gland that sits below the bladder — begin to grow out of control. About 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime, and most diagnoses happen after age 50.

When prostate cancer is caught at an early stage, the five-year survival rate is about 99%. Caught late, after it has spread, that number drops to roughly 37%. Early-stage prostate cancer typically doesn’t require chemotherapy. The difference between those two outcomes usually comes down to one thing — whether it was found before symptoms started.

Not everyone faces the same risk
Risk isn’t distributed evenly. The main factors are:

  • Age — risk rises steadily as you get older, and most cases are diagnosed after 50
  • Family history — especially a close relative diagnosed young
  • Race and ethnicity — about 1 in 6 Black men will develop prostate cancer, and Black men are roughly twice as likely to die from it as White men
  • Lifestyle factors

Symptoms show up late — if at all

Early prostate cancer often has no symptoms at all. Roughly half of men will have no symptoms until the cancer has already spread. When symptoms do appear, they can include:

  • Difficulty urinating or urinating more frequently
  • Blood in the urine or semen
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Pain in the hips, back, or pelvis

Waiting for symptoms is not a screening strategy. By the time they arrive, the easiest window has often closed.

Why it’s worth doing

A lot of men avoid screening because it feels like an invitation to bad news. In reality, screening usually confirms that nothing is wrong. And men who screen have a 75% higher chance of being diagnosed at an early stage, when treatment is most effective and least disruptive.

Screening is quick, it’s easy, and it keeps you in control of your own health. If you’re 50 or older — or 40 and at higher risk — it’s worth a conversation with your doctor.

Color’s Virtual Cancer Clinic includes early detection and screening services. Take a 5-7 minute questionnaire to receive a personalized screening plan. If eligible, receive a free PSA screening kit to get screened for prostate cancer.

THE KNOW YOUR NUMBERS PROGRAM

OnSite Know Your Numbers Biometric Health Screenings Begin This Month

Onsite biometric health screening events kick off on Sept. 15, giving employees a convenient way to complete one of the key requirements for the annual Know Your Numbers program.

Know Your Numbers is designed to help you understand important health indicators — including blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar — so you can take charge of your wellbeing and potentially catch health concerns early. Even small insights can make a big difference in preventing disease before it starts.

Why Participate?
Beyond the personal health benefits, completing the program could help you save $600 annually on your HII Anthem medical insurance premium. Employees who participate but do not qualify for the premium discount will be entered into a quarterly wellness prize drawing.

Program Dates and Requirements
The program runs each year from July 1 through March 31. To earn the $600 premium savings beginning July 1, eligible employees must complete both program requirements by March 31:

  1. Health Check Survey
Complete the online survey through QuadMed MyChart.

  2. Biometric Health Screening
Get screened at an HII Family Health Center, your personal healthcare provider, a Quest Patient Service Center*, or at designated onsite events — including those starting this month.
