HII’s political action committee (HIIPAC) made a big change this year. HIIPAC will no longer just be a federal PAC. It will contribute to candidates who support HII’s Ingalls Shipbuilding and Newport News Shipbuilding divisions, running for election in state capitols in Mississippi and Virginia.
What is HIIPAC? HIIPAC is the voluntary, employee-funded, and employee-managed entity used to support the election of federal lawmakers who believe in a robust national security, the importance of our nation’s defense industrial base, and support our efforts at providing mission-critical national security solutions to government and commercial customers. Engagement in HIIPAC furthers HII’s robust policy priorities on Capitol Hill and state capitols by building and expanding relationships with elected officials.
HII’s political activities through HIIPAC are highly regulated. With the decision to give at the state and local level, HII’s reporting requirements changed. HII files monthly reports with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) on HIIPAC political expenditures and fundraising. Further, the FEC establishes contribution limits. PACs may only contribute $5,000 to candidate committees per election. Now, HIIPAC will be filing reports in Virginia and Mississippi.
