Spring Forward without Falling Behind
We all know that Monday after the clock change—the extra grogginess, the foggy brain, the struggle to focus. It’s not just in your head. Your internal clock takes five to seven days to fully adjust to losing that hour.
The good news? Research shows that there are simple, effective actions that can help you adjust faster and feel rested sooner.
- Gradually adjust your sleep time. Shift your bedtime 15-20 minutes earlier each night for few nights before the clock change.
- Get some morning sunlight. Natural light tells your brain it’s time to wake up and helps regulate your morning routine.
- Keep your wake time consistent. Wake at the same time every day, even on weekends. Consistency helps you adjust faster.
- Take a strategic power nap if needed. Exhausted? A 15-20 min nap can help without impacting your sleep. Set an alarm and keep it short.
Sleepio can help you keep your sleep on track through the daylight saving time transition and beyond. You’ll learn practical, science-backed techniques you can start implementing right away. All accessible anytime, anywhere via the Sleepio app.

What Gets HII employees Moving: Breaking Barriers to Movement Survey Insights
What gets you to move? Last December QuadMed hosted The Breaking Barriers to Movement survey via Wellness Online to start a conversation with HII employees on what gets them motivated to move and exercise. The survey results highlighted what kept participants from their movement goals, along with what motivated them.
Here’s what we learned:
- The survey showed that lack of time, motivation, and consistency are the biggest obstacles to exercise for HII employees; and that employees felt most motivated by visible results, social support, and simple, enjoyable workouts.
- While many reported low energy or injuries as barriers, over 70% still exercise at least occasionally, with walking and strength training as top preferences.
- Most participants favor outdoor or gym environments and aim primarily for weight loss or building strength.
- To support their goals, participants indicated that they want structured workout plans, beginner‑friendly routines, and motivation strategies, highlighting a desire for guidance, accountability, and approachable fitness options. That’s where QuadMed’s BeWell for Life programs and wellness coaches can help!
Here are a few things you can do to kickstart and keep your movement momentum:
- Check out the BeWell for Life programs available
- Sign up for the weekly motivation with the BeWell Bundle emails
- Schedule a free session with a QuadMed wellness coach
- Explore tips, tools, and challenges in Wellness Online
