HII wants to make sure that only eligible dependents are covered under our health plans. When you add a new dependent, we’ll verify their eligibility right away. And once a year, we’ll do a quick reverification for certain dependents such as spouses and non-biological children, to keep everything up to date.
Points to Remember
- Annual dependent reverification for dependents on HII health plans begins in April.
- Initial verification for newly added dependents, either enrolled through Annual Enrollment or through a qualified life event, will be sent notices within 45 days of the enrollment/eligibility.
- Employees who need to verify (or reverify) dependents should receive a letter identifying who needs to be verified/reverified.
- Dependent verification notices can also be found on the Dependent Verification portal under the correspondence tab.
- Failure to verify or reverify necessary dependents prior to the deadline will result in the termination of benefits coverage for these individuals effective back to the original enrollment/eligibility date.
