Mission Technologies’ VOICE employee resource group hosted a virtual game of “Family Feud” on Aug. 8. The event, which put the “Feud Fighters” against the “HR Dream Team,” brought together 15 employees from various departments across the division.
Keemani Henry, human resources business manager and VOICE chair, emphasized the importance of these events.
“Similar to professional development activities, social and game activities are just as important in encouraging collaboration and connection,” she said. “We hope that generating laughter, connection and fun serves as a conduit for communication and increased engagement. It’s not just about the game; it’s about building relationships that extend beyond our day-to-day work.”
VOICE, which stands for Visibility through Opportunity, Inclusion, Community and Empowerment, is co-sponsored by Sabrina Bailey, vice president of operations in the Fleet Sustainment business group, and Fleet Sustainment President Ryan Norris. Its mission is to implement the vision for the advancement of Black employees and allies at Mission Technologies.
Since its inception in January, VOICE has organized and executed professional development workshops, panel discussions, cultural awareness seminars and community outreach initiatives.
“Events like these remind us that we’re not just coworkers, but part of a larger community with shared interests and values,” said Janita Colbert, a communications rep. “The game started at 6:30 p.m., and we ended around 8:30. I think it was supposed to be an hour, but no one cared. We were all just having a good time laughing and joking!”
Miranda Williams, manager of EEO and diversity, added: “The success of this event underscores the importance of supporting and empowering our ERGs. These groups play a crucial role in creating a more inclusive workplace, driving employee engagement and ultimately contributing to our company’s success.”
