Dear Neighbors, Partners, and Teammates,
At HII, our commitment to building a brighter future where everyone can thrive drives us to volunteer in our communities, support causes that make a difference, and guide the leaders of tomorrow. In this report, you’ll see the remarkable impact of our volunteers. They champion HII’s values as they build and strengthen the communities where we live and work.
In 2024, HII contributed more than $5.9 million in charitable giving to education programs, veteran and military support groups, youth programs and much more. Our volunteers lend a hand where it is needed most. Some examples include:
NEWPORT NEWS SHIPBUILDING joined forces with the American Heart Association to donate 13 CPR training kits for use in Newport News Public Schools. Those kits were presented on World Restart a Heart Day.
INGALLS SHIPBUILDING hosted 80 scouts and nearly 40 troop leaders attended the first multi-badging day. Shipbuilders volunteered their time, shared wisdom and entertained the curious scouts, helping them earn 150 badges throughout the event.
MISSION TECHNOLOGIES employees volunteered to collect and sort non-perishable food items during a weekend-long marathon food drive in support of the Hampton Roads community in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
HII’S CORPORATE employees at VASCIC collected 163 pounds of food and $115 in monetary donations during a summer food drive. That’s the equivalent of 481 meals for families on the Virginia Peninsula. HII also kept up our long-standing relationships with the United Way, American Red Cross and American Heart Association, among others.
The nearly 2,000 volunteers in this report understand that our combined engagement makes a difference to our communities. The sum of our efforts has the power to clean our waterways, feed the hungry and build homes for those in need. I am proud knowing that each person in this report is on our team.
Thank you to everyone for your selfless efforts over the past year. If you are not listed in this Report to the Community, I hope you will consider volunteering in 2025.
