Today marks the 80th anniversary of D-Day when on June 6, 1944, Allied forces stormed the beaches of Normandy, France in the largest invasion ever assembled — before or since. D-Day marked the start of Allied operations that ultimately liberated Western Europe, defeated Nazi Germany and helped to protect peace and freedom for future generations, including ours.
