You may be following developments in Washington, D.C., about the potential for a federal government shutdown. We continue to work closely with our partners and we expect agreement on funding by the March 14 deadline or shortly thereafter.
Please know that in the event agreement is not achieved by the deadline, a short-term government shutdown will have minimal immediate impact on our business. A government shutdown does NOT mean that HII is shut down. Funding for the vast majority of our current work is already authorized and appropriated. We also have robust options for deploying resources to reduce future risk to the business, and we are in active, regular discussions about scenarios for taking such action.
I commit to keeping you informed of any developments affecting HII; in the meantime, please expect business as usual across the company. Our customers count on us in service of the national defense and we must continue to work without disruption or delay to meet their needs and expectations.
