You have probably heard from HIIPAC’s manager and chairman of the HIIPAC Operating Committee, Christina Perez, in her efforts to engage with HIIPAC eligible employees. Christina is a passionate advocate of HIIPAC and loves to engage with employees in HII’s political work.
Day to day, she manages and oversees HIIPAC’s strategy, operations, disbursements, and compliance. She works closely with employees, both Operating Committee members and ambassadors from all three divisions, to inform employees on the PAC.
HIIPAC is the voluntary, employee-funded, and employee-managed entity used to support the election of federal lawmakers who believe in a robust national security, the importance of our nation’s defense industrial base, and support our efforts at providing mission-critical national security solutions to government and commercial customers. Engagement in HIIPAC furthers HII’s robust policy priorities on Capitol Hill by building and expanding relationships with members of Congress.
Christina connects the PAC match program to its impact on the charities that it supports. HIIPAC members who contribute at least $500 in a calendar year are eligible to have their contribution matched by HII to his or her 501(c)(3) tax exempt charity or organization of choice.
Christina engages routinely with the two bodies that govern HIIPAC: an Executive Committee and an Operating Committee. The Executive Committee is comprised of HII President and CEO Chris Kastner, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Tom Stiehle, Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer Chad Boudreaux, Executive Vice President of Government and Customer Relations Stewart Holmes, Newport News Shipbuilding President Kari Wilkinson, Mission Technologies President Andy Green, and Ingalls Shipbuilding President Brian Blanchette. The Executive Committee meets annually to discuss HIIPAC operations, finances, and engagement strategy.
The Operating Committee consists of representatives from each division based on the number of eligible employees in each respective division. Every two years, HII President and CEO Chris Kastner appoints members of the Operating Committee based on suggestions from division presidents.
HII’s political activities through HIIPAC are highly regulated. HII files monthly reports with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) on HIIPAC political expenditures and fundraising. Further, the FEC establishes contribution limits. PACs may only contribute $5,000 to candidate committees per election.
