This morning we reported second quarter revenues of $2.8 billion, which is 4.7% higher than during the same period last year and a record second quarter result for HII. We are well positioned to execute on our approximately $46.9 billion of backlog while continuing to deliver all-domain capabilities in support of our customers’ missions. For complete financial results, please read our news release.
These highlights from our business segments reflect your hard work delivering products and services in service of the nation:
During the quarter, Ingalls Shipbuilding delivered guided missile destroyer Jack H. Lucas (DDG 125) to our U.S. Navy customer; completed builder’s trials for national security cutter Calhoun (NSC 10); and authenticated the keel of amphibious assault ship Pittsburgh (LPD 31).
Mission Technologies was awarded a $242 million contract to provide shore-based training, engineering and development support for the U.S. Navy as well as a $41 million task order to provide integrated training systems installation and sustainment for the U.S. Navy.
Newport News Shipbuilding re-delivered USS George Washington (CVN 73) to the U.S. Navy; christened Virginia-class submarine Massachusetts (SSN 798); and reached approximately 85% completion of Ford-class aircraft carrier John F. Kennedy (CVN 79) based on current scope and schedule. NNS was also awarded a $393 million contract modification for CVN 79; a $568 million subcontract modification for long-lead-time material and advance construction activities for Columbia-class ballistic missile submarines; and a $305 million contract modification for long-lead-time material for two additional Block V Virginia-class submarines.
In short, the HII team delivered another solid quarter. Our results demonstrate our continued commitments of consistent shipbuilding execution at NNS and Ingalls, and another quarter of robust growth and record revenue generation by Mission Technologies. Thank you for the hard work you do each day delivering the advantage for our customers to protect peace and freedom around the world.
